Each fellow performs up to 1,200 colon and rectal surgeries and procedures

Our one-year fellowship in colon and rectal surgery is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and boasts a 100 percent pass rate for ABCRS Qualifying Exam and ABCRS Certifying Exam for the past five years.

We accept three fellows per year. Eligible candidates must have completed a five-year residency program in general surgery.

Curriculum

Procedures


Each fellow performs up to 1,200 surgeries and procedures, including:

  • 300 to 400 major abdominal procedures
  • 300 to 400 anorectal procedures
  • 400 to 600 colonoscopies

In addition to the active inpatient service, residents treat outpatients in a weekly clinic and assist surgeons in the practices.

Fellows also participate in various clinical trials at Baylor Scott & White Health research facilities.
