Our three-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency program prepares trainees for clinical, surgical and in-patient care of podiatric patients

Residents benefit from a diverse patient population with our podiatry service treating more than 19,000 patients annually.

The program is accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. We accept five residents per year.

As the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, Baylor Scott & White serves 41 counties through 53 hospitals, more than 1,300 access points, more than 7,100 active physicians, more than 59,000 team members and the Baylor Scott & White Health Plan.

Curriculum

Overview

Early in training, residents maintain direct communication with other senior staff members and residents and share decision making responsibilities with the podiatric faculty with respect to treatment and recommendations.

Initially, residents see patients with the members of the faculty and, as competency and proficiency increase, begin to see some patients independently.

Residents have individual desk space with 24-hour access to online services. All medical charting, imaging, labs, etc. are electronic and can be accessed via computer. Residents also have access to a medical library where searches and article retrieval can be done online or on campus. The onsite medical library is supported by both Scott & White and Texas A&M Health Science Center. Articles can be sent electronically or by mail.

How to apply

We accept applications through Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies (CASPR), a national, centralized application processing and computerized matching service for the placement of podiatric medical school graduates into podiatric medical and surgical residency programs.
