Biography
Dr. Meyer is a cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in mitral valve repair, aortic valve disease, and surgical treatment for congestive heart failure, including LVAD implantation and heart transplantation. He also has clinical expertise in thoracoscopic surgery, including sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis, and interests in patient and provider education, disease prevention, and population health management. He serves at Baylor Scott & White Health as a professor of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Texas A&M College of Medicine and as the chair of cardiovascular surgery and the chief of cardiac transplantation and advanced cardiac circulatory support in Dallas. Dr. Meyer is triple board-certified in general surgery, thoracic and cardiac surgery, and surgical critical care and is a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Meyer brings more than 25 years of experience as a cardiothoracic surgeon and a wealth of knowledge and skill to each patient he encounters. He believes in providing patients and their families with all options for care and working together to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Meyer serves as a commander in the United States Navy Medical Corps, currently serving as the director of surgical services for Expeditionary Medical Facility, Camp Pendleton, California. He is married with two college-age children and is an avid runner, water sports enthusiast and writer.
