Biography
Dr. David Garrett, Jr., is a board-certified physician specializing in neurosurgery. His professional interests include pediatric neurosurgical conditions, brain tumors, trauma, complex spine conditions, correcting previous failed back surgeries and treating adult scoliosis. Before going into private practice and joining the Baylor Scott & White family, Dr. Garrett served as a military neurosurgeon with deployments supporting Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He then served as a consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General for Neurosurgery and chaired the combined departments of neurosurgery for Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Dr. Garrett is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and its South Texas chapter, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is proud to have helped found the neurosurgery residency at Texas A&M Medical University at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, Texas. Outside of work, Dr. Garrett enjoys foreign languages (he’s trilingual in English, Spanish and German), carpentry and home remodeling.
