Biography
Dr. Harry Papaconstantinou is a board-certified surgeon with a subspecialty in colon and rectal surgery. His professional interests include colon and rectal cancer, rectal prolapse, anorectal disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. As the Chair of the Department of Surgery in Temple, Dr. Papaconstantinou is passionate about working with faculty, surgeons, surgical trainees and surgical team members to provide the best care to his adult patients and improve outcomes. He is excited to have the opportunity to serve his community, patients and hospital. His focus with his department is to deliver innovative care to improve quality of life, enhance recovery and create efficiencies of care delivery. Dr. Papaconstantinou is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Chairs, the Southern Surgical Society and the Texas Surgical Society. He is a Counselor of the American Board of Surgery and is current President of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Papaconstantinou enjoys spending time with family and friends, including his wife (a plastic surgeon at Baylor Scott & White) and son Gus, traveling and experiencing new places, cultures and traditions.
