Biography
Dr. John Hamilton is board-certified in orthopedic surgery with an additional subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He specializes in minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip. In the knee, his surgical focus is meniscus tears, ligament injuries (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL, MPFL), patellar instability, cartilage injuries, early arthritis and tendon ruptures (patellar tendon, quadriceps tendon.) In the shoulder, he focuses on surgery for rotator cuff tendonitis and tears, labral tears, biceps tears, shoulder instability, early arthritis, AC disruptions, clavicle fractures and pectoralis tendon ruptures. In the hip, his surgical focus is femoro-acetabular impingement, labral tears, hip flexor tendonitis, early arthritis, trochanteric bursitis, abductor tendonitis and tears, and hamstring tears. And in the elbow, he performs surgery for distal biceps and triceps tears. Born and raised in Temple, Texas, Dr. Hamilton attended The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, where he was a member two national semi-finalist Crusader football teams. He attended medical school at Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma. During his residency, he learned to care for the most complex orthopedic conditions while training at the state’s only major referral centers for adult trauma and pediatric orthopedics. Following residency, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. During his fellowship, he learned the most advanced techniques while caring for multiple high school, college and professional teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals. In his spare time, Dr. Hamilton enjoys outdoor activities, including fishing and hunting, and spending time with his wife and three sons.
