Biography
Dr. Danobeitia is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center, Dallas. Dr. Danobeitia is an abdominal transplant surgeon specializing in liver, kidney, pancreas and islet transplantation. He is currently part of the transplant team at Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health. He received his medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana School of Medicine in Bogota, Colombia, and went on to obtain his PhD in biomedical sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a focus on transplant immunology and islet transplantation. Dr. Danobeitia’s comprehensive training expands the surgical care of transplant patients. He is board-certified in general surgery and holds additional certification in abdominal transplantation. Dr. Danobeitia’s extensive research portfolio includes innovative approaches to improving transplant outcomes through modulation of innate immunity in organ donors. His interests also include cellular and allo- and auto-islet transplantation. In his personal time, Dr. Danobeitia enjoys bike riding, playing guitar, traveling and spending time with his family.
