Biography
Dr. Mazin Foteh, MD, FACS, FSVS is a native-born Texan, originally from Houston, Texas. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. In 2005 he began his residency in general surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where is also completed his fellowship in vascular surgery. In 2012, he joined Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons in Austin, Texas. While in Austin, Dr. Foteh pioneered many firsts in vascular surgery. His initiatives included building a limb salvage PAD, advanced carotid disease, and a complex aortic aneurysm repair program. He was the first in Central Texas to perform Physician Modified Endograft Repairs for complex aortic disease. During his tenure, he was selected to Texas Monthly Magazine's rising stars in vascular surgery for 2013-2015. Since that time, he has been selected as a superstar in vascular surgery from 2016-2022. Dr. Foteh is passionate about clinical research and has been the national principal investigator of many large, randomized trials. He has participated in over 30 clinical trials and continues to blend research with clinical care. He has been the lead author of many publications in the field of vascular surgery. In August of 2022, Dr. Foteh accepted a joint position with Texas Vascular Associates and Baylor Scott and White/The Heart Hospital of Plano. There, his primary role is as The Director of Aortic Therapy and Innovation. He is also the Co-director of the Aortic Clinic. There he hopes to continue striving towards excellence in patient care.
